Backspace removes additional space after removing word

Hello,

I have an annoying issue where, when I delete a word using the backspace, the preceding space is also deleted.

The environment I am in is the description field, replying to or creating a new ticket. Please see the attached video.

Thanks,

Jason

We have the same issue. CTRL+ Backspace is simply not an option, you don't expect a space between words being removed when you remove the word (or just a few letters of it), because you made a typo. Please fix this, it's driving me insane!

I too am having this issue for about two weeks now.

Backspacing the first letter of a new word appears to remove the space, but there are some oddities I’ve noticed.

  • After it removes the space, typing any letter makes it appear without a space
  • After it removes the space, pressing backspace once more does nothing, as if removing an invisible backspace

For a while I was thinking there was something wrong with my keyboard.

having the same issue with me also while writing the articles.

@davidred @progenix @yashameta -  Our devs are working on this, analyzing the reason for this issue resurfacing on a few instances, yet again.

That said, would you mind sending us an email at support@freshdesk.com mentioning this?

We should then be able to provide you with timely updates on this.

Thanks!

same annoyance here! happened since today ...

Additional hint, when pressing [CTRL+Backspace] it deletes the whole word and keeps the preceding space as expected.

Can confirm this, we have the same issue. CTRL+backspace is simply not an option, you don't expect a space between words being removed when you remove the word (or just a few letters of it), because you made a typo. Please fix this, it's driving me insane!

Having the same issue, it is extremely frustrating.

Same issue - very annoying

Same here. Only in the Freshdesk ticket text windows. Doesn't occur here.

We're experiencing this issue, too.  Noticed from today.

This is making my entire company want to scream and throw things. Especially since there's a slight lag on the deletion of the space, so sometimes you have already started typing the new word and have to actually go back and insert it.

Very annoying issue. Has been happening for a few days now. At first I thought it was a slight keyboard glitch but it seems that it is 100% reproducible each time for me. Using Chrome for Windows.

Absolutely an unacceptable change. I'd expect the Freshdesk ticket text window to behave like any and all other text fields. This change adds frustration and time when responding to client tickets, and is a downgrade to the overall Freshdesk experience. This is not a feature, this is a bug. Please revert this change asap.

Honestly, this seems like such a small deal but it is absolutely infuriating-- particularly when already stressing from handling a bunch of PEBKACs and ID10T issues.

Please make this stop ASAP!

@Mike Laurense
CTRL+Backspace is not meant to be a workaround. It's just a debugging hint for the devs at freshdesk, that other cases work as expected (preserving the space) in case they need an example of something working 😉

Same here, raised with the support team, currently asking for an issue/bug ID number so it can be tracked. Will update. It's getting annoying though, I'm concerned that if it goes on too long it'll be a pain retraining my muscle memory to not add an extra space into replies.

"We have an internal processing for the bugs and once they are fixed, we do inform the customers of the updates."

Ah well, I tried. Fingers crossed it's fixed soon. If you raise this as an issue with support, please reference this thread, ta.

Super annoying.

I also raised the problem with Freshdesk Support. They were friendly as usual and promised to work on it and give me an update once fixed.

"I will move this to the concerned team and keep the forum updated."

"Our engineering team is working on priority to have the back space to fix this at the earliest."

Looking forward to a fix.

I experience the same problem and found out that it works as expected in IE and Edge but not in Chrome.

Hello,

We're sorry for the broken experience. We've filed this as a priority bug and will look to get this fixed as soon as possible. I'll post an update here as soon as I hear from the team on this.

Cheers!

Hello,

We're working our best to get this fixed with our next release (early next week). I'll write an update here as we lock the timelines for the fix. Please bear with us.

Cheers!

Same issue here.  Please update us with a resolution soon. Some of my staff are really annoyed by this bug.

@Aravind can you provide an update or ETA? Continues to be very disruptive to ticket responses and giving an unprofessional look to replies where we dont notice the missing spaces until after responses are sent.
