As an Admin I want to be able to hide customer’s name in the Forum section. Is there a way to do that?

Hi @bilel hamadi

While this is something that cannot be achieved at the moment, this is a very useful idea and we will surely pass it on to our product team. You can also post it here for more visibility.

Hello @bilel hamadi

It would be interesting to know the reason for hiding customer names on the forum. Typically, you would expect customers to engage and remember someone by name.

There’s no out-of-the-box option to hide the customer names as @barun.poddar  mentioned. However, you can remove the references to the customer name in the forum pages, as highlighted in the screenshot below:

You can remove the placeholder that references user.name and replace it with a static text like “Community user”.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. The reason for this is that some customers don’t feel comfortable having their names on forum posts and that they can be tracked down to which company they work for as well.

Also mentioned that it could be potential GDPR breach.

So would be good to have the possibility for forum users to switch on/off the name display

Hi @bilel hamadi

Thank you for the update. As a workaround, you can use the portal customization suggested by Aravind to hide the user. name in the forum. We heard you, and your suggestion will definitely be taken to our product team
