GitHub Integration doesn't exist on the app store

I am trying to integrate our FreshDesk application with GitHub, using the app described here: https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/214680-the-github-app

However, when I go to the “Add More Apps” page and search for “GitHub”, the app in that article does not show up. I only see third-party GitHub apps that require separate accounts with their developers, not native FreshDesk apps.

How can I find and install the app described in https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/214680-the-github-app ?

Hello @choldgraf,

Ideally, you should be able to see the Github Integration app from under Admin > Apps > Get More Apps. Can you try accessing the app via the link below and check how it works?

https://www.freshworks.com/apps/freshdesk/github_integration

If you still don’t see the app, can you please share a screenshot of the Get more apps page where you searched for the Github app?

Thank you,

Hello - these are the only apps that I see when I search for “GitHub” under the app marketplace (see attached photo). The one with the GitHub logo seems like it is developed by a third party called “DevOps Integration” and requires a separate paid service for some of their features. I was expecting a native integration with FreshDesk based on the documentation article in https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/214680-the-github-app

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, Choldgraf.

At the moment, Freshdesk offers only the above Githubs apps and all these apps are developed by third party. The article mentioned above indicates the Github Integration app, and not a native app as such. This app has a free version with few repositories and you can make use of it for your requirements.

Any further queries, feel free to drop a note here and we would be happy to assist!

Ah I see - thanks for this clarification. I didn’t think they were the same app because the screenshots in the tutorial were different from the app that is on the marketplace.

This app seems to be significantly different than what is described in the support page.  That support page shows that the author is `@freshdeskintegration`; the “GitHub Integration” that I (and @choldgraf) see is Published By DevOps Integration.  Not only do the screenshots _look_ different, the provided functionality is significantly less robust than what is described in your support page.  It also does not have a free tier; it’s instead a 14-day trial.

What happened to the GitHub app as described in that support article?

Aha, the functionality as described in that article is indeed (unfortunately) deprecated.  I flagged it as inaccurate citing this thread and support responded:

The integration mentioned in the article was set up to work with our old UI and not our current mint edition of Freshdesk. Hence, our marketplace team would have deprecated the integration.

It’d be really great to get that working again; the described app (archived) looked extraordinarily helpful for our use-case.

I don’t understand why this completely broken functionality is still documented as being supported after being reported over a month ago — both here and through a support ticket.  I linked to an archived view of the documentation page above because I assumed they’d fix this by removing documentation instead of fixing the plugin, but to my complete dismay no action was taken at all.

Shameful.
