Currently there aren’t options for filtering or creating nested categories in the Service Catalog meaning that large catalog’s can be difficult for users to navigate.

All ecommerce platforms I’ve ever used have filtering options to help the user narrow down on what they’re looking for.

Being able to create specific filter types (e.g. hardware type to just show all applicable accessories for a Macbook Air would really improve the UX.

There is a way to do this but it’s cumbersome. I created a custom JSON script and added it to the “Head” page in the Portal Designer. The end result is pictured below, but it would be very nice if there was an easy way to do this in the UI.

Not having this feature is causing me a ton of unnecessary work. The importance of implementing something like this can not be overstated.

I agree. It also has a negative impact on on the end user experience now we have added multiple workspaces.

Agree, this needs to be implemented asap. The entire Service Catalogue element is lacking.

Specifications I’d like to see for Service Catalogues:

  • 3-level hierarchy at least (usually not best practice to go much deeper, a flat hierarchy as is currently is unworkable)
  • Service Items able to exist in multiple locations within the Service Catalogue (not everyone searches in the same manner, what is logic to one person is different to another)
  • Multiple/Different Service Catalogues - Ability to create multiple catalogues with own viewing permissions within a Workspace (i.e. IT Workspace could have Business Service Catalogue, Contractor Service Catalogue, Technical Service Catalogue)
    • With above in mind, also the possibility to have a Catalogue(s) which are shared across IT and one or many Business Workspaces

Hi David,

Drop me a DM and I can forward you a script to add to your self service portal so you can get nested sub categories.

Thanks,

matt

I’m in the midst of building multiple workspaces where this would be a huge help. Make this a thing, please!

Hi,

I have some code which can be added to your instance portal.

Let me know if you want it and I will send it across.

It allows you to nest catelogue items.

Implementing filtering and nested categories in the Service Catalog would greatly enhance navigation and user experience, allowing users to easily find relevant items like Macbook Air accessories.

Currently, the Service Catalog lacks filtering and nested category options, making large catalogs hard to navigate. Implementing filters and nested categories, like showing accessories for specific hardware, would significantly enhance user experience.

Yes it is difficult. I have some code that you can add to your SD portal.

DM your email address, and I will forward this across which allows you to have nested sub-categories.

Hi Matt,

I sent a DM to you regarding this code - Would you be able to get back to me when you get a chance to share this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Kind Regards,
