Filtering Tickets using custom fields isn't resulting correctly

The API endpoint I am trying: /api/v2/search/tickets?query=[query]

So, I am trying to filter tickets custom fields. there is a custom field named 'cf_merchant_id' 


and I have set a value to merchant ID in a ticket



But when I search for the ticket based on merchant Id, I am getting 0 results.


What is going wrong here?
