Ability to create form fields depending on the response collected

Freskdesk has been great; however, one of the things that we really need is the ability to ask for certian information depending on the type of request that has been submitted.  For instance, if we had a drop-down field called "request type" and if someone selected "new equipment", we would have fields that would be required and that may be different if someone were to select a request type of say "incident".

Hi Nikki

Nice to know you like Freshdesk :-)

I have already taken this up with the team and we will bring this feature soon. Would it be good to have different Ticket Forms with different Ticket Fields,e.g - User selects "Incident" Ticket Form, which brings up Ticket fields like "new Equipment" etc, another user selects - "Request for Information" that has like "Customer ID" and so on.

thanks and regards

Hi
How this feature was implemented?
How can I do "User selects "Incident" Ticket Form, which brings up Ticket fields like "new Equipment" etc"??

Why is this marked as "Implemented"?

Freshdesk admin -- please provide implementation details or change the tag!

Hi Marc,

This feature can be set up using portal customisation, and it's available to all our customers on the Estate plan. Please shoot a mail to support@freshdesk.com for more details.

Thanks

In addition to this, it would be nice to have other fields appear depending on the choice. Example would be if the user selected a dependent field labeled "Equipment", another field type would appear (Single Line Text / Number) that would allow the user to enter a serial number (and that new field could be set as required if they went to that particular item in the dependent field tree).

Our company has departments (IT and Facilities) who use the same system but certain fields are only relevant to certain groups. The more information we can request upfront (not in the Description Field), the less time we spend asking the user for additional information. I'd rather have more fields displayed based on user selection than just throw every custom field any group might need on the main page.

Hello,

You can setup dynamic sections in the ticket form to display several fields to the user based on the input. This is how the flow would look like: User selects an option in the type field -> a dynamic section with few other fields would show up.

You can setup two dynamic sections on a ticket form: One using the default type field and the other can be setup using a custom dropdown field. Read this article to know more about setting this up.

Cheers!
