1. I want the ability to classify customers as "Paid" or "Free"

2. Then, I want to enable the "Feature Request" forum access only to "Paid" customers.

Hi Suresh

To achieve this, you need to MAP your USERs to the respective COMPANY.

Then, go to the FORUMS >> Feature Request >>  ADD/EDIT and you will be able to associate the COMPANY which has access to these FORUMs

Once a Customer becomes PAID, you may add that COMPANY NAME.

So users from this company alone will be able to view the contents

thanks
Vijay

I saw that.

It is practically not possible to do this for every customer. We need an customer type and it has to be linked to that.

Hi Suresh

Currently we don't have any other option because we don't support Additional Fields in USERs/COMPANY.

Once we bring support for Additional/Custom fields in USERs, maybe we can bring out some alternative to this requirement.

thanks

Until you implement the ability to customize the company and therefore perform global actions based on the company type, you should take the "implemented" tag off this request. Adding companies one at a time is not an acceptable solution.

Vijay

I didn't notice that this was marked as "Implemented". I agree with Judi - the current work around is really not practical. We have 1000s of companies and there is no way we can manually select them.

Kindly remove the "implemented" tag.

Agreed with Judi and Suresh. This is an important feature and I would like to see this implemented in a more elegant way.

I agree. This needs a better solution. As it stands, it is not practical.

And please - this is NOT implemented.

Hello,

This is possible using the portal customisation feature on the Estate plan. You'd be able to specify a custom contact field to track this value against a contact and then use the property to show/hide forum topics. Please drop us a note here if you're interested to explore this option.

Cheers!

Can someone send instructions on how to create paid premium access to the knowledge base?

Hi Carlos,

Today it's pretty manual. In our portal we only have paid customers BUT we have three products to support and each customer may be paying for 1, 2 or 3 of them so we have to define which customer views which article.

To do this, go to the folder you want to show to customers and click on the edit icon

Once this is open you can use the 'Visible to' property to define which who can view the articles inside. For us, we each new company we have has to be added manually here which is not the best for maintenance. Especially as this field is limited to 200 companies so in future we might be blocked entirely.

I already made a request similar to OP here which would probably suit the needs of everyone who's posted here:

Freshdesk, please give us this feature!

It's clearly a ongoing request for the last 6 years - you have Suresh (6 years ago), myself (6 months ago) and others in this thread.
