API or Data Import/Export

Is there a timescale on the ability to import/export data to/from Freshdesk.

This would be a key requirement for us to look at adopting Freshdesk for our IT support team as we need to be able to report on the number of tickets opened/closed as well as migrating our existing tickets.

Thanks,

Hi Hilton,

The API is already available. Please refer to the URL below for the API documentation. (It’s a first draft, we’ll revise the document to make it more friendly:) )

Regarding the Import / Export of data – we are finishing the Import of data next week. Which helpdesk are you using currently?

We will take up export of data soon. We will definitely have this in place soon as we understand that customers don’t like their data to be locked in. It is only a question of a few weeks before we roll this in.

Please feel free to contact me if you need more information.

Regards
Girish

Somehow related to this, it would be really useful if tickets could be (automatically) pushed to other systems (like project management or bug tracking systems).

Hi Peter

Thanks for raising this question. we do have plans for integration with Project Management tools like Basecamp HQ.BTW, what tools would you prefer for integration ? Also, what Bug tracking system are you using ? It would be helpful, if you can give us more info on this.

regards
Vijay

I think the implementation of such ticket forwarding functionality could be rather generic. Many of the project/bug tools (Assembla, Trac, ActiveCollab, Jira, …) provide an API that allows for creating tickets. If there would be a way in FreshDesk to provide the url where the ticket data needs to be pushed to, together with the credentials and the different data-attributes, you would not have to implement modules for each and every external tool yourself.
However preconfigured modules for each and every tool would definitely be more user friendly. ;)

Hi Peter

Thanks for sharing the information with us. We will surely consider integrations with these tools for tickets.

We have an API now and you may refer to this solution article for more information on this API

Is the ability to export customer and company contact details available as Girish suggested would be done about a year ago? I have the ability to import, but do not see this option available.

Yes Jeff

Export is very much available from the Admin -->> Account Settings -->> Data Export option.

Your account admin should have access to this section

Vijay

This is no longer the case, now you need to go to "Customer" , Export.

We were using OSTicket earlier and it is horrible. Any idea on how to import data from it to freshdesk?

I've gone through the api article and still have no idea how to import tickets from a csv that was exported from another FreshDesk.

Is there a CLEAR instruction somewhere that can step by step us through importing from a CSV that was created by Exporting from the ticket view?

Thank You.

Any plans for extra export API features for Solutions and Forums? We would very much like to be able to publish some details within our main website and in our educational portal. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

The links on this thread are not working. https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/167-using-the-freshdesk-api

Also, I cannot find this article and do you have a new one?

I cannot find this setting: Admin -->> Account Settings -->> Data Export option.

Please point me to the new article to export the Solutions using the API.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

You can find the latest API documentation here : developer.freshdesk.com/api

We've built apps to ease the migration of emails/tickets from Gmail and Zendesk. You can read more about the apps here : https://apps.freshdesk.com/search/?uq=migrate

In case if you're migrating from other helpdesk(s) or if you'd like to migrate solutions/forums into Freshdesk, drop us a note here or write to support(at)freshdesk(dot)com with the specifics.

Cheers!

Hilton.jon, if you would like to auto-export Freshdesk data to CSV, Excel XLSX or Google Sheets in cloud drives, without coding to the Freshdesk API, you might consider Flatly.  Note this export is one-way, from Freshdesk to flat files.

Disclaimer:  I work at Flatly.

Hey,

You can use Help Desk Migration service to export/import data to or from Freshdesk. It requires no coding expertise and allows migrating Tickets, Users, Groups, Attachments, Notes, Custom Fields, etc. automatically. It is also possible to test free of charge.

You can find more information about Freshdesk data migration here: https://help-desk-migration.com/freshdesk/
