I would like to create a dashboard for assets.
How many laptops/phones I have in stock, how many I have in use at the moment, that kind of stuff.
At the moment, the module is not available for selection when creating a widget, and this would greatly improve the management of our assets.

My apologies, I realize that you are saying you would like to use a Dashboard! I would also like the same!
I use Freshservice to do the same currently, but in Analytics. You can create a widget that shows you Laptops or Phones that you have in stock. You can create a metric based on Assets and filter by CI type like this:
If you want to filter by a specific location and asset state, you can also add those as an additional filter.
Below is an example where I created a custom field for Hardware types that I call “Storage Location”. I have multiple custom Storage Locations configured so that if equipment is stored in a specific closet or area at one of my offices I can see how much of each product exists in stock. It helps me keep track of when I need to purchase additional equipment. The storage location regularly needs to be checked by a team member and verified for this type of reporting to be successful though.
