We think it would be beneficial to have custom project statuses that we can add such as ‘postponed’ or ‘cancelled’ so that our programme managers can keep better track of the many projects we have.

Your solution is great for tasks but I was referring to having a custom status for the project.
We would like to pause/postpone or even cancel entire projects not just the tasks.
