For example, we use Topics to post New Release information similar to Freshdesk themselves. It would be great to be able to write up the release notes in draft status and not publish until we are ready (e.g. on the actual release date).

'Draft' status for Forum Topics
A workaround would be adding a new Forum ( say ' Pre-release' ) and set it as Visible to: Agents and Forum Type: Announcement. You can create your Topics there and later move them to their final Forum.
3 years and still no drafts..?
Following that approach you need to copy&paste the whole message, right? At least if we could promote it or move it easily... I still see the need for drafts
