Currently, it looks like that the Custom URL field in a Contract only supports URLs with FQDN hostnames, and doesn’t accept URLs with IP addresses. This field should allow IP addresses instead of a FQDN, as its still a valid URL.
Example (“Management URL” is our Custom Field in the Contract):
In this case, we put a URL at the Contract level so the IT staff can easily get to the management console of the software provided by the Contract (this saves the user a click to get to the default “Management URL” field in the Software Object). In addition, the default “Management URL” field in the Software Object also does not like IP addresses:
Please allow IP addresses to be used in the URL fields.
