Even a better WYSIWYG editor or the ability to add HTML

Why is Freshdesk so behind the times with this? Standard stuff people! Get with it!

The signature management is less than desirable, we too would like to see out of the box signature management. Perhaps the ability to append banners and other text at an admin level.

I agree with this - I really expected a WYSIWYG to be wherever text is typed. 

I would like to support this idea and insist on the importance of having an html formatted signature.

Information relayed in the signature fulfills the same role as a business card, it tells the customer that he is interacting with a professional representative of the affiliated company and facilitates communication.

A custom html signature ideally includes the name of the agent, his role and the company name, along with company logo and contact information, website and if applicable, social media hyperlinks/icons.

Every time I check in with support on this topic they end up telling me "its a bug and our development team is working on a fix". They've been saying that for years. The best workaround I can find is an app (in the Freshdesk apps section) called "Signature Management App". It's not perfect, but it's way better than the Freshdesk signature editor.
