I have software with a license, but if I add an asset as an installation, it does not take that from the license count. Assigning to a user does. In some cases, such as subscriptions, assigning to a user is fine. But traditional software licenses are based off of the install, which is not necessarily even associated to a user. So in that case, the asset should count the license, not the user. Also, it does not allow me to assign multiple of the same license to the same user more than once. So if the user has multiple devices, it will not allow me to count the used licenses correctly. Can you please give us the option based on the license contract to select whether it should be assigned to a user or an asset?

Link software contracts to assets OR users, not just users
+2+2Not sure why this is archived. Apparently you think it is up to you to decide that software must be assigned to a user instead of a computer, even though the software that exists in real life does not work that way.
Take Bluebeam for instance. It’s license count is utilized by the number of installations. These need to be tracked by linking it to the computer it is installed on. That computer may or may not be assigned to a user. It is also possible that a user have multiple devices with said software on it. So for licensing to be accurate we would need to have more than one checked out to the user. That is NOT possible with FreshService. I do not understand how you do not have several customers pointing this out to you. But I feel you need to be in better touch with real world users on how things ACTUALLY work.
By allowing users to specify the association of licenses with either users or assets, you can ensure that your licensing counts accurately reflect the usage of your software across different scenarios. This approach accommodates traditional software licenses tied to installations, as well as subscriptions associated with individual users.
Implementing this option based on the terms of the license contract would provide the necessary flexibility to adapt to various licensing models and usage scenarios, ultimately streamlining your license management processes and ensuring compliance with your licensing agreements.
