Hello FreshService Dev-Team,

 

We are currently in the process of building our assets database in FreshService. It is necessary for us to store documentations for certain assets (e.g. servers). Unfortunately, there is currently no way to link any documents in an asset in FreshService. 

 

Therefore, I would suggest that you implement a way to link existing solution articles in assets. Alternatively you could implement a new category in the Assets section called “Documents” where one can store documentations and link them to other assets.

 

I would be very happy if you would consider my suggestion.

Hi,

We miss this for hardware assets, but even more for service type assets.

Each knowledge article should be able to be linked to 1 or more assets and each asset to 1 or more knowledge articles.

Allowing a link would make it efficient in 2 directions:

  • In an article it would be clear for which assets it is applicable
  • In an asset you could quickly go to all kinds of articles (as suggested via a new category "Documents").

We use a list of supported applications and have added them as service type assets.
For each service asset we would like to link different types of articles such as:

  • procedures for updating or recovering the application
  • configuration documentation
  • troubleshooting steps
  • manuals
  • ...

We use the FreshService knowledge base both internally at IT, as well as for publications to end users. It would also be nice if within the asset page, under the new category "Documents" a display or filter is possible on internal IT and articles for users.

Today, everyone loses far too much time in quickly finding the right article. This idea would allow us to make the lost time useful, for example to quickly go over whether all the documentation of an application is still up to date. Streamlined and accurate documentation will result in faster problem solving.
