Liquid Layout vs Fixed Width (needs horizontal scrolling)

The current customer portal appears to be using fixed width, resulting to the "Submit a ticket" button to be hidden when the browser is sized less than 1024px. This also shows up in the forums where the status fields on the right are hidden unless you scroll right.

Hi Jason,

Just a quick update.

We recently updated our system today, where the Submit a Ticket button has been moved a little near the search message itself. So, users can either search for some content or "Submit a Ticket"

We will be improving the Self-service portal soon with option to customize the CSS and once this is out, you will be able to include your own links and widgets to the portal, making this more easier.

Your pages are all too wide. They are something like 1150 pixels. They shouldn't be more than 960 pixels to be user friendly. It's particularly bad because important elements like login, logout, sign up and submit ticket are off the screen.

A customer support service absolutely must get this right.

I have to agree with this too.

I'm looking at integrating the portal within the website (iframe - Wordpress) - so it provides a seamless experience for my customers - I don't want them to pass out to a sub-domain and have limited ways of getting back to the main site.

However, the maximum width I can make the frame to keep the content within the confines of my site is far less than the width of the support portal - and I too lose the login, support, and submit ticket areas by a margin of around 100 pixels plus at my widest settings - I have the iFrame set to 1000 pixels, and these links are still way off the frame, requiring a large horizontal scroll.

Is there any reason that the CSS can't be adjusted to place all these items our on the right to the left, along with the other links, or even as the FIRST item in the menu?  Much as I hate to say it, if my customers have to work to submit the ticket, they're not going to do it.

As Patrick says, constraining the pages to 960 wide, or even 900 would help no end.

Thanks.

 Bill.

Hi,

Been waiting for this for a long time.  Problem is big when we access Freshdesk daily from netbooks or tablet.

Hope you can speed up development on this.

Thanks.

Liquid layout would be the solution.

Given that my product is a mobile application, I will get most of my traffic through mobile browsers on tablets and phones ( just as with my company website ).  This means I cannot take advantage of this great product as long as employing it means a terrible browsing experience for my users.

I am very surprised to see that the original ticket was issued in February and the issue still hasn't been dealt with. Hope to see flexible page widths soon!  How much of a priority is this for Freshdesk?  How much longer will it be before this issue is resolved?  Are there any community workarounds for this?
