Any update on an actual Android App?

  • Community Debut
  • January 29, 2013

I would like to be able to access an android app as well. The mobile website is slow and does not work well. Are techs are all mobile and we really need an efficient way to deal with tickets. Don't always have a strong data signal. A Native app would be preferred. We are to the point at looking at another solution if this option isn't available soon. We really like the product otherwise. It works fine from a computer and regular web browser, but then we are stuck with having to update once we get back to the office.

Thanks

Any news on the iPhone app too?  This feature request from a year and a half ago says iPhone/iPad app should be out soon.  How soon is soon?  Or was this referring to the mobile website too?  Native iPhone/iPad app would be much preferred.

Thanks.

Any news on the iOS app? The mobile interface in browser is terrible and I end up switching to desktop view to get anything done.

There seems to be a certain lack of any feedback from Freshdesk on these forums. :(

Hey,

Sorry guys, for leaving this thread unattended for such a long time now. We do not have any immediate plans of coming out with a native iOS/Android app.

Have it in our roadmap but I really cannot promise anything right now. Sorry.

And about improving the current mobile interface, the team is looking into it.

Thank you everyone for all your wonderful suggestions.

How do I get this HTML5 mobile site to work?  I am using Windows Phone 8 on a our Nokia Lumia 920 and the site just loads as normal.  No "mobile" site loads.  This needs to work and from my understanding when I signed up you guys would have a working mobile HTML5 site.  WP8 and just about every single Mobile browser supports HTML5 so I don't understand what the problem is.  Zendesk offers a WP apps and if this isn't going to work for WP I might have to switch.

I couldn't use the site on my nexus 7 using Firefox but could using chrome, when I asked why I was told that the mobile site is a "HTML5 app compatible with WebKit browsers"

So that's just ones like chrome, dolphin, safari - should be something available on wp8.

With quick search "mobile time" I can find atleast four feature requests for time tracking with mobile website. Please make it soon. We are currently evaluating Freshdesk and few others. If time tracking comes to mobile also Freshdesk could be our choice.

Also mobile site doesn't work with Windows Phone 8. Displays full site with no option to go to mobile version.

How can VIjay say production for mobile app is in process and then a year later Annapoorna V says there is no immediate plans.  I thought this would be the perfect solution because it seems very complete. How can they NOT have a mobile app or web page yet????  Please work on this. Where is mobile app site?  Can you post link to it???

Hi ossi, I am interested in what freshdesk alternatives you are evaluating. I suggested freshdesk a few months ago to my manager. Now 9 of our agents use the blossom plan. But most of us can only use the mobile app. We cannot make time entry's and now we loose to much turnover. We have two options: purchase 9 tablets or go for another helpdesk tool. I would like to recieve an ipad or so but that wouldn't be very practicle because of the size. So i would like to know what alternatives you are looking at. Regards, Remi

Hello everyone,

We currently have a mobile friendly site which is an HTML5 app compatible with all WebKit browsers. And it sure works fine now with Window 8.

Just visit your portal on the mobile, and it will open the mobile version automatically.

I am sorry that the time tracking is missing. Totally realize how important it is to have it available on the mobile version as well.

And yes, the team has started the works on developing a Native App, starting with Android. And I promise that you will have all the important functionalities and capabilities included.

I understand the frustration of not being able to do a lot of things while on the move with ease. Please bear with us for a little while more and you sure wouldn't be left disappointed.

Thank you all for the support and love.

Hi Annapoorna,

Thank you for your reply.

All our agents do like Freshdesk very much. Before Freshdesk, we used OTRS and all of us do like Freshdesk much more.

I think Freshdesk is a very open and easy to use helpdesk system that has a focus for layout, and customer/agent frendly feel and look.

But my company, and specialy my manager, has also a focus for profit and turnover. He is paying my salary and paying the Freshdesk bills. Thats the reality over here.

Therefore he would like you to focus a little more on reporting and billing features.

I hope you understand this ;-)

Regards,

Remi

Hey Remi,

First off, I am really happy to know that all your agents like Freshdesk very much. And I completely understand the profit and turnover POV(the reality) as well.

I just had a discussion with my team over here and I have news for you :) We can probably work on bringing the "Add Time" feature within the tickets on the mobile version, for you. Provided we are given about 3-4 weeks time.

Does it sound good for you, Remi? Do let me know your thoughts on this.

Really don't want to lose out on all the love we get from your team :)

Thanks,

Annapoorna

Hi Annapoorna,
freshdesk has been a great tool for our consulting firm.  We are very happy with our decision to go with freshdesk after evaluating all of the players in this space.
time tracking via the freshdesk web interface desktop version (including Harvest integration) has been excellent.
so great to hear that the missing piece  "Add Time" is priority for mobile version.
look forward to hearing news of this release in the next 4 weeks.

thanks,

Richard

I really wish you hadn't marked this one as "implemented." I can't be the only one who struggles with the HTML5 interface to the point that I end up just using the desktop version on my iPhone/iPad which is very less than ideal. For example, the mobile view counts my closed urgent cases and I end up thinking I have urgent cases that need attention, I click on it only to find there's nothing open. Little things like that drive me insane.

Sad if a dedicated mobile app now off the roadmap.

While dedicated apps are nice, it really isn't practical for a company to have to develop for 3 or more platforms, especially when HTML 5 should be able to handle everything.

Very large companies might have the resources to have multiple development teams for each platform but not startups like Freshdesk. I'd rather have them working on their core competency than spread themselves too thin.

I just tested out the mobile interface in android and it looks pretty awesome. Maybe I will nitpick some things after I've used it regularly but looks great so far.

I understand that such a change costs a lot of time, but do you have an ETA for me?

I promissed our team we would have this option within a month. I have to tell them someting.....

Thanks!

Hello Freshdesk.

We started to use Freshdesk last December. We use the Blossom project for 10 agents. Most of them work in the field using the mobile app.

We want to evaluate Freshdeks in September this year. One big issue is that we cannot make time entry's in the mobile app. Billing is important for us.

We now have to manualy check each ticket and calculate the time ourselves.

About 3 months ago I was asked to wait 4 weeks.

I know you guys are very busy and I have a feeling that you will write back to me with apologies and ask me to wait another 4 weeks, but if this feature still isn't available in September, I will advise my manager to look out for another ticket tool.

That’s not because I don't like Freshdeks, I do, but because time registration and billing is essential for our business.

Regards,

Remi

As a Freshdesk noob, this is a distressing thread for me. I was told when I was testing the trial that the mobile apps would be out "in a few weeks". Sounds like you've been promising this for a couple years already. What's the realistic ETA?

@Terry I am using Freshdesk on my mobile! It works great!

Sure! I also use my mobile phone and it works. But...my problem is that i cannot make time entries. Since the new layout it is almost impossible to use the non mobile web interface so i don't have a work arround anymore. A solution was prommissed over and over but nothing seemes to happen....

Android, please! I'm a new user and very disconcerted to see all these old, unfulfilled promises. We were promised by our salesperson that the mobile apps (iPhone and Android) would be out "in a few weeks". The huge number of very OLD promises is not encouraging. The mobile app is an absolute MUST HAVE and will cause us to move on to someone else if it doesn't come out soon.
