More formatting options to the WYSIWYG editor

Currently there's no easy way to increase the font size, do headers, or have any sort of code formatting for Forums, solutions, etc. All of them use this WYSIWYG editor that is very lacking in features.

A markup language would also solve my issues if the WYSIWYG editor can't be easily improved on.

Please also include the possibility to modify the whole HTML (behind the WYSIWYG).

All I need is blockquotes. Not being able to blockquote drives me nuts. It's incredibly useful for replying to customers who enter many questions in one ticket.

I'd really like to be able to modify the html directly.  Presentation to the client is SO important.

This would be really helpful - we often reply to customers with chunks of code or log entries, which would be much more readable if we were able to indent a block of text and change the font to a monospaced font like Courier.  Any ETA on when more formatting options might be available?

I welcome the new editor, it's a huge improvement over tinymce. We use redactor in our own application as well.

But I do have the following remarks

  • For some reason it creates FONT (!) tags for different header sizes. This is weird. Why not H1 to H4? Also sometimes it also generates a span with inline styles for the font-size. quirky.
  • The formatting of the HTML in the actual help document doesn't take pre/code into account. This would be great since we use a lot of code samples in our help.

This is marked as implemented... do I have to do anything to enable it? I need codes in my ticket descriptions...

Implemented where?

Has this been implemented? Also, it would be great to be able to insert pircures/screenshots rather than attaching them

Implemented? Where?  Where is code formatting? Can you add code formatting on ticket view?

Please update this ticket, as it has not yet been implemented

we would very much like this too.

I need only code tag for email

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick update. Code formatting is available for solutions and forums, but not available for ticket replies. We are considering enabling code formatting for ticket replies.

Thanks

Samyuktha

Thanks for anwser, please add it :-)

We use this a lot!

Will pass on your feedback to the team Alessio.

Thank you

Mother of god!

Topic started 2 years ago and still there's no way to change font size. The most BASIC function of any html editor is missing. WTF?

Code formatting for tickets is a must, please.

Nothing? Size 12 for a font looks really horrible. Had to drop freshdesk because of this, loved the service otherwise.

I'd like to change the default textsize of the email messages too.
12 is way too big. It looks awefull in Outlook.
Is there a way to set it to 10?

Is this really that hard to do?? I mean, I assume Freshdesk is  a well staffed company. Replace your editor.. it's supper underpowered.

This has been requested for 2 years.. you seriously can't update the editor in a 2 year time frame??

I was an advocate for Freshdesk over Zendesk.. but, I'm starting to loose some love here. Get this has a daily negative effect on my workflow, and it's a sort spot each and every time I use the tool. Every time I use your editor and realize I can do a simple hierarchical bullet or numbered list, I'm going to just hate this tool, curse and scream, groan, and wish I was using a different tool. Every. Single. Time.

That's not good customer satisfaction. I can't imaging you'd find some customers that 'don't like' having a better editor.

Why don't you just license one? Here, use this: It's a small cost, but well worth it:

Hi Ed,

The editor you are seeing is Imperavi's redactor. We have an older version in Freshdesk. We cannot upgrade to the latest version because we've made a lot of changes (features and fixes) to the version and a simple upgrade means losing all the changes. We have some outstanding feature requests and bug fixes in our current editor like the ability to paste images from the clipboard. After we work on those, we will make plans to upgrade or move to a new editor. This is proving to be a maintenance nightmare for us as well. I'm really sorry about the bad editor experience. What are some of the major pain points you are facing?

I've been where you are at. In cases like this, it's often better to cut your losses and dump your old code, update, and avoid doing too much hacking on the new code.

It's always better to extend code than to 'modify it', for this very reason. At some point, it's going to make sense to dump and update.. maybe you should take a serious look at what 'features' you hacked in.. maybe they are not as crucial as you need them to be.

I would like to add this thread by saying the lack of a robust editor is very much negatively weighting our evaluation of Freshdesk. It is going to be very difficult to make branding people agree that the email notification created meet guidelines.

We too are struggling with the lack formatting features for tickets.  The Code Snippet tool in particular is important for us in replies.  For example, when giving a command line instruction where is is important to clearly distinguish the number of spaces, two single quotes '' versus one double quote ", two 'v's versus 'w', 0 vs O, 1 versus l versus i, etc.  Ideally, the formatting options Solutions, Forums, and Tickets should be the same and comprehensive.

Currently there are times where we simply have to reply by email instead of the portal.

Cheers, Matt.
