At present all forums can have new topics and replies created by users. While replies can be moderated, it would be good to have an option to have some forums where a user cannot post anything. For example, in an announcement forum it may not be desirable to have comments.

Hey Dion, the 'Announcement' type forum in Freshdesk doesn't allow end-users to create post under it. Go to New Forum and select 'Announcement' under Forum Type:

Also, any topic created under any forum can be locked from users replying to the post. Go to Add Topic and enable 'Lock topic and prevent users from posting replies'.

I’d like to make forums read-only for specific companies. My use case is that distributors of our software should be able to view forum posts, but only customers should be able to participate.
