I like the ability to create rules for tickets, but what about rules for the support forums as well.

Conditions for these rules could be:

  • When the number of votes are [greater than, less than, equals] a set amount for a topic.
  • When the number of replies on a topic are [greater than, less than, equals] a set amount.
  • When the forum type [is, is not, is one of, etc.] specific type(s).
  • etc.

Actions could be:
  • Create a ticket with the user who posted the topic as the reporter (if it was a problem or idea posting).
  • Notify user(s) and/or group(s) of the posting/user who posted the topic, via email notification or as an option to third party interrogations.
  • etc.

Has there been any progress on this? Most forums has a page where you can configure front-facing rules/guidelines for posting. It seems relatively easy to instantiate for the forums as an additional portal page. I realize a good workaround would be to establish a post in the Announcements forum or created forum category of choice but it would be nice if it was an ample part of the customization features of the portal itself.

In customization pages for the portal there is Discussions home, Discussions category page, having a Discussions rules page would be great.

Seems so simplistic to add. For now I created a KBA and stuck the link for it on the Discussions home page.
