This would certainly be very helpful.
Not just PDF or other files in the Knowledge Base, but also within attachments and rich text (such as tables) in tickets.

We store supplier documentation along with our own notes as knowledgebase articles, to make system information available for support agents.
Being able to search in attached documents would make our support process more efficent and we would be less dependent on tags/key words
