Separate Activation emails for multiple products

It'd would be great to allow custom activation emails and a welcome message for individual products. We have 3 separate products with different content we'd like to email to every user when they sign up.

I looked at Email Notifications, Dispatch'r, Supervisor, and Scenario Automations but couldn't figure out a way to send an email upon user creation or activation. Is there a way to do this that I'm not finding?

Hi Sean,

This might be a good question/concern for feature requests.  I have this problem too...  I created and use the following workaround:

  1. Disable email notifications for "User Activation Email" in Admin --> Email Notifications
  2. Disable "Allow customers to Sign Up from the customer portal" in Admin --> Customer Portal --> Customer Portal

  1. Sign into the desired portal for this customer using your admin username and pass
  2. Manually create the customer and company
  3. Find the customer you just created
  4. Click the "send activation email"

The activation email will be sent and with the correct/brand url.  This is the only way, I have found, to make customer activation work when segregating brands is desired.  You will also need a special setup for the brands Solution/Forum sections.

I have requested similar features.  They've worked on making it better but not full proof yet.  I for one would like the ability to assign a company to a portal.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Yes this definately needs to be addressed!

Freshdesk is fantastic but it's also held back on these seemingly innocent issues stemming from the loose definition of the word "mutliple".

Multiple products should mean
  • Multiple languages (front end GUI and auto generated emails)
  • Multiple ticket forms (per product/language)
  • Multiple SSO API keys/URLs (per product/language)

If my Japanese customers log in or submit a ticket then they should get not only a Japanese front end but also tailored Japanese emails.
With one custom SSO option and the email issue the only solution is to purchase a new Garden plan per customer base which defeats the object of having everything centralized (exact same goods that we sell down to the barcode/SKU, just international and domestic markets).

I would follow your workaround Craig but a few hundred customers.... not going to do that - I don't pay myself well enough ;oP

p.s. Sean - this should be in the Feature Requests part of the forum

Guys to answer all the questions

  1. Multiple languages (front end GUI and auto generated emails) - Already available in Estate and Garden plans.
  2. Multiple ticket forms (per product/language) - Available in Estate plan
  3. Multiple SSO API keys/URLs (per product/language) - In the making and will be out in few weeks time

regards
Vijay

Hey Mathias

Your 2nd query can be easily address via Jquery/JS model.

1 Form values can be hidden in 2nd one. Sample Portal - duebysample.freshdesk.com

+1 on custom activation emails and a welcome message for individual products. Any progress on this? Seems like this thread has been idle a long time, evaluating the product now and trying to figure out if it can do this
