Any updates??

It has been a year already with no solution.

Only have one vote, it needs more to be added as a new feature. 

If you see it as a bug you need to contact the support by e-mail.  
What do you mean change field? Rename? , add more items to a drop down?
And mean with object ?

I already opened a few support tickets…

Let’s say I am changing a type’s name, it will disappear from any rule or any ticket that as this type has been assigned to.

If i will change it back to the original name, all the tickets and rules will have the type back.

It’s very frustrating to work like that.

Oh you mean that way, it’s the same in Freshservice, drop down do not use ID, ticket matches to the text.
If you change the Category in FS you loos the value for ever, doesn't help to change back. 

Did some test with a custom object in FD, you can change the name of the value then but you can’t select the field in update automation as event.  But then you need Pro. 
 

Sometimes we want to change the type names, it’s very frustrating that it works like that...

Yes this is the goal.

I am not sure why didn’t it work from the beginning...
