I still think the other important aspect is read receipts. You guys have this in FreshSales now, so I would expect you could do the same here.

Not having read receipts is what is making us consider a move to HelpScout, which I already have my other company using.

Agree with Justin completely. I've actually suggested this as a feature request (ticket 997029). I could not find official topic on the help portal on this feature request.

Hey Justin and Daniel,

Thanks for letting us know that you would like to do email tracking in Freshdesk. I will discuss with our internal teams and keep you posted on this - can you please open a separate Forum topic for this so we can gather votes separately?

Thanks,

Sudha

Please note that forum topic is created (Feature request - Email Tracking in Freshdesk) and is awaiting administrator approval.

Hello all,

Am happy to let you all know that we have just released the ability to digitally sign emails sent from Freshdesk for all plans. For more information, please read the following article - https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/223779-digitally-sign-emails-with-dkim-

Thanks,
Sudha

Hi Sudha, as the first sentence in your support article states, digitally signing emails with DKIM is not applicable if using a custom mailbox.

When will Freshdesk users with a custom mail server be able to get notified about email delivery failures? We're using Gmail as our custom mail server and Gmail (as every other email service provider) notifies the sender of an email if the message could not be delivered. Why do you not pull those status messages from the Gmail inbox into Freshdesk?

I can't see it either - they told me the'd give me an update on that soon

Hello all,

Yes we are still in the process of rolling out the feature to all accounts. Thanks for your continued patience!

Sudha

Sudha, any word on notifications when using a custom mailbox? What's the status?

Johannes,

I'm following up with some colleagues on this, will keep you posted soon.

Thanks,

Sudha

Hello Johannes,

With a custom mailbox, mail delivery failures would be delivered to your mail server and we would create them as new tickets in your helpdesk. Email threading in this scenario would not work since the "Mailer Daemon" would not be a requester or a recipient in the original Ticket thread.

Does this answer your question?

Thanks,
Sudha

Are there going to be any inprovements to help companies using custom mailbox? Sometime ago we had a reply that showed in Freshdesk but that we never sent. We would've never known this without checking our mail server. It was found that there was a technical glitch of some sort. Will the changes being worked on be available to us with a custom mailbox?

Hello Adam,

I believe that getting notified in a custom mailbox scenario would be entirely upto how you configure and monitor your mail server.

The current changes listed in this forum for mail delivery failures will not be available on a custom mailbox since Freshdesk is just pulling data from the server and displaying it.

Also, I wanted to report that the DKIM feature should be available to our existing customers now.

Thanks,

Sudha

Hello Sudha,

your comment brings us back to the question, why Freshdesk is not pulling "Mailer Daemon" delivery failure notifications from the custom mailbox.

I understand that it might not be possible to connect those notifications to the correct ticket thread. This could be done by merging and is not a big problem. The issue stays in not being notified at all! You mentioned earlier that you "would create them as new tickets in your helpdesk". This is not happening in our helpdesk! We do NOT receive any new tickets of this kind and can only see them in our custom mailbox.

It can't be part of a normal workflow to daily check the custom mailbox inbox and search for undelivered messages.

What is your suggestion? I am definitely calling this a huge bug in the Freshdesk system. You have all information, the delivery notifications are in the custom mailbox, you simply need to pull them from there!?

I really hope this doesn't take another year to be solved, this is how long time ago this has been brought up in this string.

Please do prioritize this with the urgency it needs.

Thanks,

Johannes

Johannes,

Can you please reach out to one of our support agents via support@freshdesk.com regarding mail delivery failures not being pulled into Freshdesk tickets? We will need to investigate this issue.

Thanks,
Sudha

I am more than interested in getting our account to have this feature enabled sooner than later. We have customers contact us via the feedback widget we've setup, and if they supply the wrong email address, we cannot tell we are not getting to them. I am truly surprised that this is not a feature Freshdesk had from the get go, Any word on when it's rolling out? We are starting to get more and more instances where we don't know if we are reaching customers or not, as we don't require the to leave a phone number, just their email.

Thank you for your patience everyone.

We have some good news for you. The feature to have to email delivery notifications is now out and will be rolled out to all accounts gradually in phases.

Please refer this solution article for more information on the same.

Cheers!

I'm glad to hear this is reportedly handled. My company is looking at Freshdesk and this would likely have been a deal-breaker for us. We can't have emails silently not getting delivered. That kind of opacity would be terrible.

Bharath R,

May I know whether your solution supports custom email server other than sendgrid e.g. exchange?

Hi,

The delivery notification failure would work only for replies relayed through our server. We wouldn't be able to display the failure of emails sent through custom mailservers. However, in case of such delivery failures, the server would trigger an email back to the mailbox notifying the user about the email delivery failure ( ex : Mailer-demon addresses ) and this would in turn be available as a ticket in Freshdesk.

Cheers!

We created a similar app for Zendesk and have been approached by Freshdesk to create this app for them. Our solution should be able to handle emails sent by Freshdesk and emails sent with your own custom servers. It would not be terribly challenging to adapt our app to Freshdesk.

I wanted to get some feedback if this has been resolved to everybody's satisfaction. I am told it is NOT on the product roadmap, nor have I seen a solution in Freshdesk that compares to ours which generally takes one line of code to implement. If would be grateful for any feedback and if you want to participate in a beta as we get closer to launch, please email support@myreadreceipts.com.
