It should be mandatory for documentation articles to be able to see the evolution of an article, make a diff based on previous version, etc.

Having the ability to view article versions for tracking changes and identifying contributors would indeed be highly valuable, particularly for audit purposes. Initiating this feature by implementing an activity log indicating who has made updates since the creation of the article would be an excellent initial step. Building upon this, the next stage could involve presenting past iterations of the article to enable more comprehensive version comparison.
It's great that this is Open now, but please continue to improve by incorporating the recent Not Taken ideas, that also relate to Solutions Articles:

Versioning would make the solutions very good. As others have mentioned, we need to keep articles published even when they are due for review - I can’t stop everything and take care of articles in my solutions and not have the document available to my users because it was auto-moved to draft.
