First I love freshdesk But it just doesnt do all that I need it too,

I need to be able to have different fields appear dependent on other fields.

Example

Drop Box 1 with the items New Email, Reset password, and Delete

When New email is selected I need a text box that asks for the new account holders name.

When Password is selected I need a text box that asks for the user name.

When Delete Email is selected I need boxes that ask for Account holders name, User Name, date for deletion and a drop box for terminated and resigned.

I do not need all these fields all the time.

Honestly our users are not very techsavy the easier I can make it on them the more likely they will use the helpdesk.

There are many other ways this would be helpful.

The dependent tree that is implemented currently just doesn't cover

We're looking for this too..

What we're looking for is basically dependent fields but with more input options than just predetermined dropdown values. For an example case, we'd like to add a field to the ticket form asking what department their issue is related to. There would be a dropdown for each department - IT, Marketing, HR, etc. We'd then like them to be required to fill out specific fields based on the department selection. For example, for the IT department, we'd want them to be presented with a text box for IP Address and make it a required field - we'd only want that option presented for IT - each department would have department-specific fields only visible when their department was chosen.

Please let me know if you need any clarification

Agree - different types of requests should have completely different field options.

I was surprised that FreshDesk didn't have this feature — all of the other products I looked at did.

Completely agree.  I too would like to see a better implementation of dependent fields.

Hello,

You can now create dynamic sections in the new ticket form and display relevant fields based on the user input. The Dynamic sections can be built on top of the type field or any other custom dropdown field. You can read this self-help article to know more about this feature.

Cheers!

Thanks.
