We’ve got a group that we want to stop using.
Is there any best practice guidance on how to prevent the group from being used?

I want the tickets to still show what group the ticket was in when it was worked.

Hey Rob,

When I had to retire a group in the past my TAM had me use the bulk update tool to add a tag to all of the past tickets with that group name in it, this way if I needed to run Analytics on those tickets I still could.  We also change the group property to the name of the group that would be handling those tickets in the future.  Once all of this was complete and I updated anything else containing that group (automations, templates etc) I deleted the group, so people can no longer access it.

I have also in the past used the app “Set Ticket Field Options” to hide a group from others that I no longer wanted them to use.

Good Luck!

Sara

Thanks Sara, seems like such a long winded solution, doesn’t it, especially when other parts of the system allow me to archive things

I was lucky our TAM Monica did most of the heavy lifting on this one.  She created a report for tickets in the group, uploaded the CSV then she used Bulk Ticket Manager Light to upload the CSV and update all the tickets at once.  She did this so it could be done after our office hours.  After that was complete I took care of the rest of the updates.

Hope this helps a little more.
