How do I hide the author name in new Topics posted to Forum?
Hello Juha,
Thanks for posting this on our community forums. The author name would be available on multiple pages across the site . Can you please help me with more details on this requirement?
Cheers!
I was the thinking that the first post of a Forum discussion would be just posted by the organization, not by any individual. And then replies would be always authored by a person
I got an answer from the Support that this could be somehow be done by modifying the CSS on the portal.
Hi Juha,
Yes,it is possible to hide the author name of the first post in a forum thread using portal customisation. However, since you've mentioned your requirement for the forum , I'm thinking of an easier alternative here.
If you plan to make the ability to create new topics on a thread to be available only for the agents ( organisation ), you can choose the forum category as Announcements . This particular category doesn't permit users to post new topics on their own. They can only react and respond to the existing topics posted by the organisation.
Is this something that you're looking at?
Cheers!
No, that's a different need. Rather I am looking at a way to hide the agent name who writes the first article to given a topic in order to prevent that person getting 1-on-1 messages on the topic. We, of course, could create a user with the First name 'Mr.' and Last name 'Admin" but that feels like a hack.
Thanks for explaining it,Juha. In that case, even agent's comments on the thread will invite for one-to-one discussion , isn't it? Also, even if the agent names are exposed, their email addresses aren't exposed to the users. All interactions will be only on the forum thread and there is little/no chance for the customer to indulge in 1-1 conversation via email.
Cheers!
