In the new Mint UI I can not position the caret in the response field by mouse clicks. Our reply template uses a table, that might be part of the problem. On click, the caret is always moved to the end of the current table cell.

Yes. The caret position always moves to the end of the current cell. We'll look into this further and see what we could do to make it work as expected.
In the meantime, as a very hacky workaround, you can place the caret and perform multiple clicks on that position (selects the entire word for the first click and then places the caret in the expected position).
