What are people doing when you have a customer that is acquired or merges and starts going by a new name?  I’m finding there is no way to Edit existing names or merge with other companies, like you can for contacts.

I would love to hear what other Freshdesk users are doing.

Hi @Blair,

Greetings from Freshworks community.

You can certainly update the company with a new name by editing the existing company record.

For scenarios where you need to merge companies (similar to how it works for contacts), please refer to our documentation on contact/company merge https://support.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/50000010165-manage-customer-data-in-freshdesk#Associate-one-contact-with-multiple-companies:~:text=In-,some,-cases%2C%20you%20may for step-by-step guidance.

How you found it. Could you share the way or method. As I am also looking for the name change of Rent an apartment in Jounieh owners. As he has assigned this task to me to do it for them. Could you share the proper procedure.

When a customer merges or changes names, users often create a new company profile under the new name and reassign contacts manually. Others use custom fields or tags like "Formerly [Old Name]" to retain history. Bulk data export and re-import can streamline larger updates. Freshdesk Support is also an option for guidance or feature requests.

We’ve run into the same issue a few times. Since there’s no option to merge or rename companies like you can with contacts, I usually create a new company with the updated name and manually move the related contacts and tickets. Not the smoothest workaround, but it helps keep things organized. Hopefully Freshdesk adds a proper merge feature for companies soon.

By the way, if you ever need help coming up with names for clients or projects, check out my name mixer tool.

I recently had a similar issue while managing client profiles in AI Studio, our AI video generator software. When customer names change (especially for branded projects or video templates), the system sometimes doesn’t update the linked data right away.

A quick fix that worked for me was refreshing the cache and syncing customer data before saving new video templates. It ensures all AI-generated video files and metadata reflect the updated customer info. Anyone else facing sync delays after a name change?
