Just tested the Parent / Child ticketing as described in the blog

Would be great if the parent ticket could also show an aggregate of all time entries associated with it (for total hours put into the child and parent tickets).

Also, the parent/child tickets don't allow the merging of tickets, so if additional tickets come into play for a child or parent ticket, the only way you an associate it is by adding a hyperlink to the new ticket in the notes of the child or parent ticket.  Would be more efficient if we could just be allowed to merge tickets with the parent/child.

Merging is really needed here and also the ability to add an existing ticket as a child.

I like this idea. It would really be helpful for our company if we have this capability.

If I could have the ability to merge a ticket as a new child ticket for the parent, that would be amazing.  This would essentially allow us to merge tickets in a cleaner way, by simply associating them with each other instead of threading everything into one ticket.

I would like to be able to merge tickets into existing Parent or Child tickets.  Is this a request that can be forwarded to the programmers?

Any idea when merging will be available on Child/Parent Tickets?

It is very annoying that it doesn't allow it.

I would also be cool to be able to reassign a ticket as a child of an existing parent.

I'm also interested in merging capabilities in the area of parent/child tickets.

@Etienne Clercx: could you please explain what you mean by "merging on child/parent tickets"? Do you mean "creating one ticket out of a parent and all its children"? Or is is just merging some regular tickets in one of the children or even a parent?

Question (to anyone): What you would merge two parents? Do we end up with one ticket or one parent with all the children?
Maybe I am overthinking all this.
I just wonder which merge capabilities on parent/child tickets would make the most sense.

Hi Sarah Vandegoor.

Let's say I get an email/New ticket from a customer or a vendor that we are working with that is related to a child ticket that is already open in Freshdesk.

I would make sense to be able to merge that information into the existing child ticket to keep the information organized and together.  However, freshdesk does not allow it. If you search for the child it in the merge function on the new ticket it doesn't come up.

Just try merging any new ticket into an existing child. it is not possible for some reason.

Thanks,

Etienne Clercx.

It would also be nice to have the option to mark a new ticket as a child. Kind of like the "Link to tracker"option but instead of that just make that ticket a child of another existing one. The existing one would then just become a parent.

Thanks Etienne for the quick reply.

Indeed, merging a new ticket with an existing child or putting this as a new child under some parent would make the most sense. These are the options I am currently missing as well.

As one of the old timers in this thread...still waiting a year later.

Where I need this is when my users add a requirement to an existing project we are working.  I have a parent ticket for the overall project and new requirements go into a child ticket.  Basically my users have to call/email me if we need to create a child under the project.  If they do submit a ticket, I have to delete it and create a new child ticket which is cumbersome.

Is it possible to show the Parent or Child ticket type when customizing the Table View in the Mint version?  The tag shows on the Card View but I haven't located a way to make it visible in Table View.

What I would like to do, is to make an existing ticket the child ticket of another existing ticket. Is it ok to post this request in this topic or does it 'deserve' a separate topic? ;-)

It is currently limiting us to create a maximum of 10 child tickets.  While our workflow mostly calls for a need of 11 tickets, it would be great if we can extend the maximum to somewhere of 15 or preferable 20.  Thanks!

Hello everyone!

Apologies for the delay in getting back.

I understand that currently we'd not be able to merge a new ticket with any ticket that has an association. This is indeed an existing Feature request at our end and we'll make sure to keep you posted once there's any update regarding this.

Cheers!
