It is common place for us to put XML in our tickets to assist our customers - right now, the XML comes out as a text blob - we do our best to format it, but it takes extra time. We really need an editor like the one found here on the Freshworks Community.

There’s no doubt that this is much easier to read

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<note>
<to>Tove</to>
<from>Jani</from>
<heading>Reminder</heading>
<body>Don't forget me this weekend!</body>
</note>

than this is

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<note>
  <to>Tove</to>
  <from>Jani</from>
  <heading>Reminder</heading>
  <body>Don't forget me this weekend!</body>
</note>

I’d love to see some communication on this from the Freshworks team - is this even on the road-map? This would be a gamechanger for our customers - and it seems others like us.

Woo hoo! I believe this is low-hanging fruit - I’ve seen this requested several times through my searching - I’m hoping a solution can get added. Thank you FreshService!

Hello @mbutler - thank you for your feedback and letting us know. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have a further update. In the meantime, should you have found any duplicates of the same idea, please do let me know. I would happy to merge them so that the votes get transferred as well!

Here’s just a few that I found searching:

As I mentioned - this feature has been requested by others - I’m not the first to think about it - but I’m extremely hopeful that *now* is the time to add this feature!

@kengon - Here’s another one that you may be able to assist with. For a long time, I have been dreaming of posting raw XML to our customers in a format that is easy for them to read and understand. The community pages and the solutions in FS both have this capability, but unfortunately, when you go to add a reply or private note, you just have to paste in XML and try to format it yourself which takes a lot of time. Is there anything like this on the roadmap for this year?

Thanks for tagging me, do you think I can merge these ideas together? That way more votes for us! :)

we switched from freshdesk and we miss “code snippet” when working with tickets.

What is even strange on freshservice that you have code snippet if you try to edit

Admin > Requester Notification > User Invitation Email

You have code snippet on other admin locations.

Just add that to ticket part.

Hi @alyssia.correa . That’s exactly the idea; to merge them and increase the count of the votes in a single idea rather than isolated ideas. As you may see, people still write about this missing feature.

This is definitely one of those things you would just assume was already there. As you mentioned, you can find it elsewhere in the product. Why don’t we see it in the ticket/change areas? It would make the product much more cohesive if the editor was consistent all the way through and if it included the ability to format code for our customers.

@alyssia.correa - I want to be the squeaky wheel. This is something that really needs to get implemented into FS.

I second this! I don’t understand why things are different throughout the app, it’s not just the editor, but other parts of freshservice look like they were built by different groups/people. It’s like the teams building the app don’t work together to make things cohesive, etc. So, not only is the editor different throughout the app, the field manager is not consistent either, some fields aren’t available and in some places the a dropdown menu doesn’t have the option to use a lookup. ugh.

The best part is that we even have the code snippet right here.
I think it would be better if they just said they won’t do it because it doesn’t matter that we’re all asking for it—those few people are irrelevant anyway.

@mbutler = my hero!

Been asking for these improvements since day 1.

It is inconceivable to me how this product is still missing basic editing functionality..

We need code blocks and tables in our notes, replies, CMs, everything..!!

@kengon  and @chad.haftorson and @alyssia.correa - This was posted over a year ago. I haven’t seen any FreshWorks engagement in over 4 months - It’s starting to feel lonely in here. Can you tell us anything about this request? Did it ever make the roadmap? Your customers are telling you this is an item that we want.
