Hello Community!
The first-ever Freshworks Developer Summit powered by AWS that happened in Bangalore on Sep 22nd concluded with a bang, and we are excited to share a few highlights with you. We had an overwhelming response leading to a packed house with over 150+ attendees, 120+ of which were developers from diverse backgrounds and had experience working with multiple tech stacks. The Summit agenda had some awesome speakers lined up throughout the day and some very interesting topics, let's give you a walkthrough!
Opening with the keynote from G
We conceptualized this event toenable more and more developers to build and deploy innovative solutions for the new-age customers who demand unified, seamless, and personalized experiences. Our CEO and founder, Mr. Girish Mathrubootham (also known as ‘G’ within the company), kicked off the event with a keynote session introducing the participants to Freshworks and the role of developers in delivering a delightful customer experience. He also talked about how Freshworks is making it easier for developers to build applications and with more than 58,000 Freshworks customers, how it laid a huge opportunity in front of the developer community to come and build on the Freshworks Developer Platform for the Freshworks customers.
The keynote session was followed by a fireside chat between Preethy and Tejas, VP of the platform, where they deep-dived into how Freshworks is empowering the Developer experience and what it means for the developers. An interesting conversation followed that saw Tejas talk about the capabilities of the Freshworks Developer Platform and how it allows developers to build and scale faster with Freshworks. A key aspect of the discussion was the multiple opportunities that the Freshworks Developer Platform provided for both partner and customer developers and how easy it is for them to get started!
Insightful Industry Expert Sessions
Two industry expert sessions followed the keynote and fireside chat. To start with, we had Chandrashekhar Munnibudha, Principal Solutions Architect, AWS talking about how Serverless capabilities are changing the landscape for developers. He explained serverless, taking the example of online cab aggregators. Using such services, you can free yourself from the hassle of owning a car, driving it through heavy traffic, maintaining it, etc., compared to just paying as a service and reaching your destination. This is what primarily serverless is! Touching upon what the future holds for the developers, Chandra talked through the key benefits of leveraging Serverless and how it eventually meant better developer and customer experience.
Chandra’s enlightening session was succeeded by Shoaib Ahmed, Chief Catalysator, Catalystor Consulting talking about how B2B Marketplaces can deliver huge value for developers and businesses. There was an interesting analogy on how Redwood forests have survived the test of time through their surface root networks and how it resembles the ecosystem of partners. Shoaib also shared personal anecdotes of how a misplaced luggage experience made him think about the broken customer experience and how it could have been avoided with a connected ecosystem.
Getting hands-on with Tracks
The attendees then split into different tracks, foundational and advanced, on the basis of their knowledge about the Freshworks Developer Platform. During these tracks, they got an opportunity to develop their first app on our platform and learn more about the platform's capabilities in detail. All along, the attendees also had the opportunity to explore the demo area and the certification booth. At one of the Demo booths, the Freshworks Marketplace team showcased the new Marketplace experience and what it means for the users and developers. With all the Freshworks experts and speakers hanging around, the attendees made the most of the networking zone by meeting fellow developers and interacting with the experts.
Partner Showcase and Developer Panels
Our success has always been driven by the success of our amazing partners. After the tracks, the attendees reconvened together to learn from the success stories of our partner Konnectify as they talked about the key integrations they’ve built for the Freshworks customers.
We had the most interesting bit lined up for the last as Satwik Hebbar, Senior Director of Engineering at Freshworks, led a developer panel as they discussed what the Developer experience meant for the panel and what does the future entail? Satwik closed the Summit with a heartwarming, candid ode to developers. Try finding that on social media!
But did we only talk about building and deploying apps? Absolutely not! The Summit had quite a few fun activities ranging from quizzes to social media challenges. Check out the social media platforms for our Hashtags - #FreshworksDevSummit2022 #BuildMore#BeMore. You’ll find some interesting Tweets! We also had some amazing food across the day, capping the day with a quintessential evening snack - Samosa!
With over 20 apps built by the participants on our platform a rating of 4.5 out of 5 for the event content and an NPS of 61, we believe we were able to deliver an engaging and enriching keep experience for the participants!
