Curious if anyone has utilized the Tenable Connector App within Freshservice. We are working with the app in our Sandbox and attempting to configure the Recipe’s, but are running into exceeding the 500 tasks allotted.

For testing, we are wanting to trigger creating a ticket for Critical notifications from Tenable.

I’ve been scouring the web and Youtube to see if any further explanation of how to configure these aside from setting the Task window to once a week to run the recipe.

Any insights or helpful places to look would be appreciated.

I’m assuming that it’s constantly pulling the same alerts and that’s why you are hitting the task limit, I would add a limiter into the recipe to only create tickets for notifications that are equal to today.

I am wondering if you got this issues resolved as I am running into the same exact issue with the OOB recipes has anyone had any experience connecting the 2 to create INC or SR to FS?

Thanks!!

Just received this from Tenable support >
=========================

I got the below response from Tenable vendor support.

"I have an update from our team regarding your question about integration.

For security, stability, and to ensure our customers have a positive experience, Tenable maintains an official list of validated technology partners.

Any partner on this list has had their integration tested and verified by our teams.

You can find this complete, official list on our website: https://www.tenable.com/partners/technology

The FreshService is not currently on this list, which means the integration has not been validated.

Because it isn't a validated integration, we strongly recommend not using it, as we cannot provide technical support for any issues that may arise from it.

We can only support the official integrations listed on the partner page.

We recommend reviewing the list above for a validated partner that meets your needs."

@ITMike  even with a limiter from my end its still consuming a tone of tasks the OOB recipe was set up to pull each asset, and this could be hundreds of assets per Plugin ID and so on. Getting FS to assist with the recipe has been interesting hoping they will update the OOB recipes as it will consume the free 500 tasks in one test!

I’ve seen a few teams mention the Tenable Connector App mainly for syncing security data and automating workflows, and it really highlights how useful the right tools can be when you want more control over technical processes. On Android, I’ve had a similar experience with file and app management using tools like MT Manager, especially when tweaking APKs or inspecting app resources directly on-device. Having everything in one place saves a lot of time compared to juggling multiple utilities. If anyone here works with Android apps alongside security tooling, this overview might be helpful https://mtmanagersapk.com/

Thanks for sharing this. I was also curious about how Tenable Connector behaves with recent updates, and the points discussed here are really helpful. It’s good to see real experiences instead of just documentation references. I’ll definitely try some of the suggestions mentioned above and see if they improve the stability on my setup. Appreciate everyone who contributed to this thread.

I was given a demo on how to configure the recipes, but I can say it is a deadend for now.  You’re limited with only a few pulled fields from Tenable, so the field mapping is not really adequate even for basic use cases.

Good morning.  Would you be able to share where you got your demo from?  I am curious to see if it differs from what we have seen working with the Freshservice representative.

Demo was just about telling us how the recipes work and their function.  And the only configurable part of the recipes are

1. the filter for ticket creation

2. setting of created ticket field values

Many organizations deploy the Tenable Connector App to integrate Tenable vulnerability data with other systems (e.g., IT service management platforms like Freshservice) so that detected vulnerabilities can automatically create incidents or be correlated with other asset data. For example, in the Freshservice integration, the Tenable Connector App can sync vulnerabilities detected in Tenable into Freshservice tickets based on configured filters, helping streamline vulnerability handling between security and incident teams.
