Ideas portal FAQ

Find, vote on and share ideas for Freshworks products. Here is how it works and what happens next.

1. Idea stages and what they mean

Every idea has a status. It shows where the idea is today.

How does an idea move from submitted to delivered?
  1. Submitted
  2. Under review
  3. Planned
  4. In development
  5. Delivered

Not every idea makes it to the end. Some stay open for votes as Future consideration. Others are Closed.

You get an email each time the status of an idea you posted, voted on or subscribed to changes.

What does each status mean?
Submitted
We received the idea. It is open for votes and comments.
Under review
Product is looking at the idea.
Planned
The idea is on the roadmap. We have not started building it yet.
In development
Our teams are building it. We expect to release it within 12 months.
Delivered
The idea is live in the product.
Future consideration
We are not planning it now, but it stays open. Votes help us see if demand grows.
Closed
We are not taking this idea forward. See "Why was my idea closed?" below.
Does Planned mean a release date?

No. Planned means the idea is on the roadmap. Timing can change as priorities change. We update the status when work starts and when the idea ships.

2. The basics: from your idea to our answer

Six questions most people ask before they post.

What is an idea?

An idea is a request for a feature or improvement that is not in the product today.

Something broken? That is a bug. Please contact Support so they can help you.

Should I search before I post?

Yes. If a similar idea exists, vote and comment on it instead of adding a new one. Duplicate ideas split the votes, so no single idea shows how many people want it.

How do I submit an idea?
  1. Search. Choose Submit an idea and type a title. Similar ideas appear. Vote on one if it matches.
  2. Describe. Tell us the task you are trying to do and what gets in your way today.
  3. Add context. Pick the product area and tell us how much this affects your team. Add a screenshot if it helps.
  4. Submit. Your idea shows as Submitted.
How will I hear back?

You get an email when the status of your idea changes. To follow an idea you did not post, subscribe to it.

Why was my idea closed?

An idea can be closed for one of these reasons:

  • Merged. A similar idea exists. Your votes move to it.
  • Bug. It is something to fix, not a new request. Contact Support for help.
  • Retired. It no longer fits the product.
  • Already available. The product can do this today.
  • Not planned. We have no plans to build it.

Closed ideas stay searchable, so you can still read the comments.

3. Find ideas and share your thoughts

The quickest way to make an impact is to back an idea that already exists.

How do I find an existing idea?
  • Use the search bar on the Ideas page. Try two or three keywords.
  • Filter by product, so you only see ideas for the product you use.
  • Filter by status to see what is Planned or In development.
  • Sort by votes to see the most requested ideas first.
How do I vote on an idea?

Open the idea and select the vote button. Voting shows us which ideas matter to you. You need to be signed in to vote.

How do I add a comment?

Open the idea and add your comment. The most useful comments say:

  • What you are trying to do.
  • What stops you today.
  • How you work around it, if you do.

"I agree" helps less than a short example from your own work.

How do I follow an idea?

Select Subscribe on the idea. You get an email when the status changes or when someone replies.

I could not find my idea. What now?

Submit a new one. Use a clear title and describe the problem, not only the solution. Then we can see what you need, even if there is more than one way to solve it.

Have a bug or a question about how a feature works? Contact Support instead.

Test our Journey using minutes instead of daysClosed

This is a mini “howto” I thought I’d share with the community.I wrote a rather elaborate journey recently that is executed on the scale of days.  It involves sending welcome email for an online training course, sending reminder emails every week and then sending a series of “Last Week”, “Last day” and finally internal email if the learner does not finish.  Testing such a journey would be impractical even if I was to set the delay sequences to a small number of days.I noticed its possible to set the Time delay in Journey blocks to Minutes but the contact record dates cannot be set to less than day resolution.  So I resorted to the REST API to set the date on the contact record to a resolution of hours and I tested a journey which changed  the value of “days” to “Minutes”.    I was thus able to test the entire flow in a mater of minutes :). Below is description of my test setup where I verified this all works.  Hope this is useful to others. I first tested and found that I could indeed set the H:M:S on the Training end date field in the contact record as follows with REST API:curl -L -X PUT 'https://***.myfreshworks.com/crm/sales/api/contacts/16003608992' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -H 'Authorization: Token token=**' --data-raw '{    "contact": {        "custom_field": {            "cf_training_end_date": "2021-05-26T20:20:00-07:00"        }    }}'I then did a GET Contact API call and found that the date indeed remained the same as I set it with hours and minutes.I then set up the following journey:I set the "Add delay by contact field" to be 10 min before Training end date and set the Journey to trigger when contact Training status set to "Enrolled".  Since above I set the Training end date to 8:20, I expect at 8:10 the update would occur. At 8:08 PM I set the Training status to "Enrolled".  I observed that the count on the "Contact field matched" and "Add delay by contact date field" incremented by 1 and the "Update contact field" remained 0.Right at 810 PM I found the contact record indeed updated and start date was decremented.I confirmed this with REST API as follows:Before 8:10: "cf_training_start_date": "2021-05-04T00:00:00-07:00", After 8:10:    "cf_training_start_date": "2021-05-05T00:00:00-07:00", I also found the journey had incremented the remaining 2 blocks:

How Mobile App Next Growing Technology for 2021 ?Closed

As you know that the market for new applications like iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile heats up, more and more brand are turning most of their attention and investment towards that "next large mobile app thought". Here are I am telling some points of mobile app development.Business thought : If you have really a good mobile application idea, then you should first do research about it. If another application similar to your idea already exists, determine how you can differentiate and improve your thought. Understand if the application you plan to develop is needed. Apart form to validating your concept, measure whether developing that application is a good fit for your business plan of action, direction, and if you will be able to recoup the investment to develop this application.Target Audience: Whether you are developing applications for your own commercial use, used by other businesses, or used by several consumers, you should have an perceptive of who is your target audience . This will help in creating design and tech decisions for your application. If you are targeting a global market audience, you may also need to view making your mobile application multilingual.Selection of Latest Technology : With a mobile client applications, it is difficult to sell an application that can run across all mobile platforms, as you know almost all mobile applications are different and run only those applications which are developed on special profession. So if you develop an iPhone application, you cannot run the same application on another platform like Android, Blackberry or Windows Mobile platforms. So it is important that you start thinking about your applications and select a appropriate mobile program before starting. If your plan includes developing applications for double mobile platforms, make sure you properly architect your application to minimize initial and ongoing development efforts and costs. Most importantly, find if you really need to develop a mobile customer application that is platform special web application that is more universal and can run on all smart phones.Timing : When a lot of businesses are trying to tap into the emerging mobile application market, it is most important that you go ahead with your mobile development project in a timely,or else your competitors can steal your ideas and you Can leave behind and quickly tap on your potential customer base. When it comes to launching a mobile application, the right time is necessary for maximum ROI.Pricing : Like any other product, you need to assure that the price is right for your mobile application that are decide by you. Do research on the cost of your app and your competitors app and it is also necessary to research how many users are like your app in the market. Consider offering your mobile application for free or at a discounted price for a short period of time to attract more buyers.Bonus Point: After you launch your application, it is necessary to broadcast it. And improving its clarity to its target audience is important. Without marketing efforts, your application may be interred at the bottom of a pile of thousands of other applications that harm its revenue potential. You should broadcast your application on social media sites and search engines, and offering it for free for a little period of time should help addition your user base. Listen to the feedback application to ensure that users will be involved in your future development plan.Summary: Mobile App is core necessity if you have own business.
