When I am running the reports in the system, I always end up having to set the date range, because the built-in times of last 7/30/90 days aren't really useful. Today, This week, This month, and This year would be much more useful to me. Could those be the default available options instead?

With the revamped reporting suite, we've added quite a few options to the date filters on reports. Here's a screen grab illustrating the options:
