Dear Freshworks Team,

We would like to request a feature enhancement in Freshservice related to asset visibility for requesters.

Current Limitation:

Currently, requesters can only view assets that are explicitly assigned to them individually through the “Used by” field. However, assets assigned to a department (via the “Used by: Department” field) are not visible to requesters in that department.

This limitation affects our ability to provide a transparent asset overview to department members, especially for shared equipment like meeting room devices, common laptops, or department-owned hardware.

Feature Request:

We request the ability to configure asset visibility so that:

Requesters can view assets associated with their department, either via the “Used by: Department” field or through department-linked ownership.

This could be implemented as an optional setting under Requester Settings, such as:

✅ "Allow requesters to view assets assigned to their department (via 'Used by: Department')"

Business Value:

  • Improves transparency and accountability within teams

  • Reduces dependency on IT staff to answer asset-related questions

  • Enables more accurate self-service workflows and automation

We believe this would be a valuable addition for many Freshservice users managing assets at scale.

Please let us know if this is on the roadmap or if there's any known workaround.
