In FreshService Assets Inventory, is there a way to filter via Make and/or Model of an Asset?

It seems like I can filter the majority of fields but the most important Make and/or Model doesn’t seem to be an option.

If anyone knows how to do this please let me know, otherwise it would be great if FreshWorks could add this a basic must have / be able to do feature please.

Hi.

Would you mind clarifying whether these are custom fields? Or which current fields are you referring to?

Currently, at the very bottom of the Filter section, there’s a button More, which allows you to pick additional fields, like Product or others depending on the asset type:

Maybe Product the one you are looking for Model?

Best,

Hi

None of them are what I’m looking for as I’d like to filter on the following:

If someone comes to me and says, how many HP EliteDesk 800 G3s do we have and where are they, how do i quickly tell them as there isn’t the option to filer by Make or Model.

Hi.

Thank you very much for the screenshot.

Well, actually, that would indeed be the Product, as per the module Design.

And, those indeed seem to be custom fields, but I’m not sure how or where did you add them.

Currently, under Product, you may specify the Manufacturer as a standard field:

But that field is indeed not usable as filter in the Asset module.

You could actually create a custom field for Manufacturer, under Laptop for instance, and actually filter by it:

Best,

Thanks for the update.

I see what the issue actually is, FreshService does not allow us to filter on free text fields. If FreshWorks could make this a feature, the Make and Model (and other custom fields that use free text) would then be able to be used as a filter. Until that feature is implemented, we are going to have to use pre-configured dropdown menus.

Hi.

That’s correct. Free text fields can’t be used as Filters, because of that: Can be huge and not suitable for properly handling filtering capabilities. You can search within them, but not use them for filtering.
