New to Freshservice, and we are attempting to import assets from our old ITSM. I’ve tried several times to import assets for a single asset type, at first I was getting a date error and fixed that, now the import fails with “You are not allowed to update the asset.” I’ve tried editing the csv, changing how assets are mapped, leaving out mapping some fields, and I can’t get past that error.
It will be your permissions. Either you are limited to not accessing and updating assets, or you cannot update assets not “manage by” a group you belong to.
We have an Asset Role that has -
- View Asset
- Create and Edit Asset
- Delete Asset
- Manage cost
permissions. Is there other permissions somewhere else I need to have also? I am a member of the ITSM administration group for the IT workspace (the assets I’m trying to import are Facilities assets), an account admin and workspace admin account-wide wise. Do I maybe need specific Facilities workspace permissions?

I would try giving yourself the Supervisor role in the Facilities Workspace and see if that solves it.
That did not solve it unfortunately. Still getting the same, “You are not allowed to update the asset” error.
