Question

New to Software Inventory

I am new here to Software Inventory. Is there a way to run the discovery/probe in a sandbox? I want to run the tools but do not want to alter the hardware assets that are already entered into the system manually. Our Hardware assets are set and looking pretty good. I do not want those items to get messed up.

I don't think so.. and i would stay clear of the sandbox. I've had so many issues.

Hello @SpadeCR it is technically possible to install the discovery agent on your machines and have it point to your sandbox instance, but like @afautley mentioned, I would not recommend it. The sandbox is best thought of as a playground. Try stuff out to see if you like it, but I would be hesitant to sync changes from the sandbox to production.

The good news is that the product teams are working to better the sandbox experience so hopefully it will get closer to being a true representation of our production environments. Making it more reliable for true testing and implementation.
