We are trying to modify our Asset Management database to manage both leased and owned assets. We need to have fields like Acquisition Date made mandatory however we need this to be relevant for leased and acquired date but of course can’t change the default.
What are other companies doing?

Not sure what you mean by not being able to change it.
We wanted to be able to change what the field was called. So that it could say Leased/Acquisition Date.
