Brief summary of the ask:

  • We have new users who login through an email link, at which time their FreshService account is created
  • Because we want to control visibility of Service Catalog items of these new users...
  • We need to be able to automatically assign these new users to a Requester Group based on custom criteria

Is there a way to trigger a Workflow on Created User event? 
Is there another clever workaround to this?

As of now, there’s no way to trigger on User/Requester.

You may wish to work with API calls and other tools, like Make (make.com), for instance, where you could read an email and trigger an API call to FS to create such requester. However, checking in detail the available entries, I don’t see one for adding a requester to a Requester Group; maybe it is not documented:

I suggest you to submit the inquiry in the Developers Community (Freshworks Developer Community), and/or submit a support case as well.
