Does adding a new contact automatically trigger an email allowing the contact to register an account with your Freshdesk portal?

If so, can this be disabled?

If this feature is enabled, are emails sent to new contacts when they are added via importing from CSV?

No, a portal account activation email isn’t automatically sent when a new contact is created, but I need this functionality!

Greetings from Freshworks Community!

Contact activation email will be sent automatically by enabling the Contact activation email from Admin > Workflows > Email Notifications > Requester notifications > toggle the user activation email ON. Upon enabling this feature, the contact will be automatically triggered with the activation upon their initial creation.

You can also trigger manual activation from Customers > Contacts > choose 'Unverified contacts' from the hamburger menu > check the required contacts click on 'Send activation email'.

I have the same problem.

I want to turn the email notification OFF for customers that email in (and are not recognised/activated  users). But as soon as you turn the ‘user activation email off’.. people can longer register on the default portal as they never receive their activation email.

I could really do with a workaround..

Edit: On further testing today it looks like now I have two products and portals, the user activation email is pointing to the relevant portal, which may be the fix for me at least.

Yes, Freshdesk can automatically send an activation email when a new contact is added. This can be disabled in the Admin settings under Customers > Portal Settings. If enabled, emails may also be sent when contacts are imported via CSV.
