I have the case where I need a custom field on the Service Categories. I want to safe one more custom string field which would be used to store custom data. Is it possible to create a new field rather than we currently have only “Category Name” and “Description” fields?

AFAIK, that is currently not possible.
Seems like a valid request. I’d suggest you to create an Enhancement Request (in case it does not exist) and share it in order we would vote on it.

As I noticed, you currently have the option to modify the child(Service item) fields. I want the same, but on the parent level for the Service Category.
